The problem in
this study, namely (1) how is karia
tradition on Muna ethnic in the village of Kondongia in District of Lohia,
Muna, (2) how is the function of karia
on Muna ethnic in the village of Kondongia in District of Lohia, Muna, and (3) how is the change of karia function in ethnic of Muna
in the Village of Kondongia, District of Lohia, Muna.
Objectives to
achieve in this study, namely (1) to describe and analyze karia tradition on Muna ethnic in the village of Kondongia,
District of Lohia, Muna, describe and analyze the function of karia on Muna ethnic in the village of
Kondongia in District of Lohia, Muna, and (3) describe and analyze the change
of karia function in Muna ethnic in
the Village of Kondongia, District of Lohia, Muna.
The method used
in this study using a qualitative descriptive research (analytical). Location
of the study is in the Villageof Kondongia, District of Lohia, Muna, and
research carried out for 1-3 months. The type of data is in the form of
qualitative data with two data sources, namely primary data obtained through
field observations and interviews, as well as secondary data from supporting
documents and related with karia tradition on Muna ethnic. Determination of
informants used purposive sampling technique. Data was collected by observation
and interview techniques. Data analysis techniques, after collecting data,
reduced the data collected, the data is presented , and then draw conclusions.
These results
indicate that the tradition of karia
contains social functions on Muna ethnic in Kondongia Village, District of
Lohia, Muna, namely historical function, religiosity and spiritual, social
identity, education, mutual cooperation, and aesthetic. However, the
development of cultural traditions of karia
slowly change the its function. The changes of Karia function that occur are, the ritual of transformation,
commercialization, entertainment, and formality.
The conclusion
of this study, that is the tradition of karia
change in the order of execution of the function of karia in the first period and the present of its existence. This
change occurs because of growing public paradigm, modernization, and its
acceptance of cultural dynamics. Indirectly, the substance (meaning) karia is shifted, so that, it needs
retention efforts as a participative step in maintaining cultural aspects of
Muna ethnic.
